Grounds Maintenance Worker / Driver

(Servicing Palmer, Wasilla, Chugiak & Eagle River)

***Position pay's $23-$29/hr! ***

Important Position Details - This Grounds Maintenance Worker / Driver position requires candidates who are willing to service our Palmer, Wasilla, Chugiak and Eagle River customers. We service dedicated neighborhoods on specific days to keep routes tight and efficient. Please note that candidates must be 18+ years old to qualify under our company insurance. The position is year round (even during the winter).

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, responsible person who loves working outdoors and prefers to work independently.

What's the work like?

• During the Spring Season:

   

  • During the Spring season this job is physically demanding. Strong hands and a strong back is helpful for this job. This job can be compared to spring clean-up season for a lawn maintenance company. Lot's of shoveling, raking, etc. It's hard work! During the spring season, our field employees are working 6 days per week/10 hours per day.

   

• During the Summer and Fall:     

   

  • Once all the snow is gone our regular weekly maintenance clients are easy!  You'll go around to each clients home and clean-up the mess that Buddy has left over the past week.  Alaska summer days are awesome! All of our Technicians enjoy this time of year.
     

• During the Winter:      

   

  • If you know how to dress for winter conditions, this job is very comfortable, peaceful and simple. Work can be a bit harder than summer due to chipping out dog waste.

Our ideal candidate:

• Has a reliable vehicle that they don't mind having dog waste cleanup tools in while they are working. Tools would be a shovel, bucket, pooper scooper and misc. supplies such as bag's and paperwork. Tools and and supplies are all provided by us!

• Is in EXCELLENT physical condition to be performing outdoor manual labor 8-10 hours per day.

• Has employment references that shows strong work ethic, reliability and consistent work attendance.

• Have good winter tires when driving during the winter season.  

• Enjoys working with dogs.

• Can work independently, Self-motivated and Highly dependable

• Good customer service skills

• Has clothes for all weather conditions

• Is physically capable of doing manual labor (the position requires carrying bags that can weigh approx 30-50lbs, raking leaves, walking through deep snow and other tasks that would be considered hard manual labor)

• Has General Laborer experience and is in good physical condition (i.e. Landscaping, construction, general outside hard labor work, etc.)

• Has a cell phone

• Has proof of insurance (Can provide a copy)

• Good driving record (Can provide a recent DMV driving record printout.)

• No criminal history (We conduct a back ground check)

• Availability:

   

  • June - Feb: Is available five days per week (Monday - Friday), can start work by 8:AM and work a full day.

• March - May: Is available to work Monday - Saturday, 10 hours per day and can start at 8:AM.

Compensation:

Probationary period is approximately 30 days. During the probationary period compensation is $23 per hour.

After the probationary period, compensation is paid by the job and our drivers average between $23-$29/hr!

Our compensation package is structured around employee performance, rewarding field staff for working efficiently and effectively. An employee’s pace, physical condition, and familiarity with their routes also influence results.

While every person is different, most new field employees seem to average the following:

• Month 1 on the job: $23/hr during the 30 day probation period.

• Month 2-3 on the job: Field employees usually average $23 or more per hour.

• Month 3-5 on the job: Field employees usually average $25 or more per hour.

• Month 6-8 on the job: Field employees usually average $26 or more per hour.

• Month 9  on the job and beyond: Top highly efficient field employees that are in good physical condition typically average $26/hr. to $29/hr.

Important Note: Our pay structure is designed to incentivize field employees based on the level of effort that they put into the job. "The above are averages." Every employee is different. Employees that are truly focused on the job all day, are organized, are in good physical condition, and know their way around the roadways, usually meet these averages.

In addition to the compensation above, we pay 65.5 cents per mile while providing services to our customers. Mileage compensation usually is around $400-$600 per month (depending on how many jobs the employee can do per day).

All compensation is paid twice per month.
